About ASPNM
Since 1985, the Adaptive Sports Program New Mexico has offered therapeutic recreational activities to children and adults with disabilities. Today, ASPNM proudly offers a wide variety of adaptive sports year round, including skiing, snowboarding, watersports, river rafting, archery, rock climbing and more.
Programs are open to children and adults with disabilities at locations throughout New Mexico. Some programs are open to family members and caregivers. Veteran-specific programs are offered periodically throughout the year. If you are interested in getting involved as an athlete, volunteer, or supporter, please contact us for more information.

How Can I Help ASPNM?
By supporting the Adaptive Sports Program New Mexico, you help create inclusive opportunities for hundreds of children, adults, and veterans with disabilities to fully participate in recreational sports and activities. From adaptive skiing and rock climbing to archery and river rafting, your generosity helps remove barriers and make sure everyone can experience the joy, challenge, and connection these activities bring.

Our next Adaptive Climbing Event will be on Friday, October 24th, 2025

This event is a partnership between ASPNM & the awesome team at Stone Age North Climbing Gym. Individuals with all types of disabilities are welcome, regardless of age or level of experience!
- Every 4th Friday of the month
- North Gym on Alameda located at 6200 Alameda Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113
- 5 pm to 6:30 pm (Group One)
- 6:30 pm to 8 pm (Group Two)

WINTER IS COMING...
The leaves are changing, there's a crispness in the air - that can only mean one thing, winter is on its way! We know everyone is anxious to get ready and registered for the season. Please read through the information below to be ready for a great ski & snowboard season!
Don’t wait — preparation is the key to getting on the slopes with us this season!
INFORMATION FOR VOLUNTEERS:
Our volunteers are the heart of ASPNM — you make it possible for our athletes to experience the joy of skiing & snowboarding. Plus, it’s a ton of fun! To become an instructor, you must be 18 or older and at least an intermediate-level skier or snowboarder. No previous teaching experience is required!
Whether you’re new or returning, here’s how to get ready for the season:
- Attend a Volunteer Orientation sessions
- Santa Fe: 11/8/2025
- Albuquerque: 11/15/2025
- Participate in on-mountain ski & snowboard training
- 12/18 - 12/21 and/or
- 1/8 - 1/11
- Complete your application & sign up for your teaching day and mountain
INFORMATION FOR ATHLETES:
Registration will open mid- to late-October 2025 - be ready!
ASPNM is excited to once again host its popular multi-week ski and snowboard programs at both Ski Santa Fe and Sandia Peak — but spots fill quickly!
To give yourself the best chance at securing a spot:
- Review the schedules in advance and decide which mountain and day work best for you. (Please note: sit-skiing is only available at Ski Santa Fe, not Sandia Peak.)
- Sign up for our emails so you’ll know the moment registration opens.
- Complete your scholarship request ahead of time (see button below) to have your approval in place before registration day.

Each year, ASPNM sells beautiful, fresh, mixed evergreen wreaths to support our many adaptive sports programs. This annual fundraiser generates over $50,000 and directly benefits children, adults, and veterans with disabilities across New Mexico.
The wreaths are always popular and quantities are limited, so pre-ordering is essential to guarantee yours!
Important: All wreaths must be picked up within the designated timeframe. If you cannot pick up your wreath during these dates, please refrain from ordering unless special arrangements are made in advance. We are unable to accommodate late pickups.

It is with great sadness that we are share the loss of a well loved member of the ASP community, Aaron Michael Ohlhausen. Our sincere condolences extend to the Ohlhausen family.

It is with a heavy heart that we share this sad news. We recently lost one of our former board members, volunteers, and true friend of our ASPNM community. Wesley Daniels passed away on May 15th, 2024.
Our deepest condolences go out to Wes's family and friends. He will be missed by our entire ASPNM community!
