Benefits of teaching private (individual) lessons:

• Really help impact our out of town guest lives and vacation. Some of these families only come to Santa Fe because our Adaptive Program provides them an opportunity for the whole family to enjoy a ski vacation together.
• You get an addition Ski Voucher to use at your leisure
• You get to ski on black-out periods (Holiday Weekends)

Private Lesson Check List to help you know the process of signing up for a private lesson.

Before the day of the lesson 

• Once you have been assigned to a lesson please:
• Call your student and talk to the family if you are listed as instructor #1 or discuss with co-instructor who will call
• Set up a meeting place with the family
• Ask any questions you may have. ie. what is your athlete's height, weight, disability, have they ever skied before...
• Discuss goals
• Call co-instructor if you have one
• Make a plan - where to meet - who does what - good meeting place is the tables at the top of the elevator or the shed.           

Day of the lesson       

• Find out if there is a day coordinator - someone who will have tickets and information files
• If no day coordinator - get lift tickets from Skier's Services - you may have to wait in line so be patient and polite
• Get equipment set up - if you know what you might need for your lesson
• Look in Private lesson file box for evaluation sheets - if there is not one for your student, make one
• Be in pre-arranged meeting place 5 minutes before the set meeting time
• Take Athlete and responsible party to rental shop for equipment if this is the first lesson
• Arrange a time and place to meet the Athlete's family member after the lesson           

When the lesson is over   

• Share feedback about the lesson with Athlete and family member (with Athlete's permission)
• Put away equipment
• Fill out an evaluation form
• Return extra lift tickets to Private Lesson Box
• Return rental equipment unless the student will be attending another lesson. If there will be further lessons, label the equipment with the Athlete's initials and store it in the shed
